Gerald J Prud'homme is a Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto, and Clinician-Scientist at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto. He received his MD degree from the University of Ottawa, Canada (1977) and subsequently specialized in Pathology. He is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Immunology, University of Toronto, the Scripps Research Institute and the McGill Cancer Centre (McGill University, Montreal). Subsequently (1985-2002), he worked as a Scientist and Pathologist in the Department of Pathology, McGill University. His main research interests are in the areas of immunotherapy of autoimmune diseases and cancer therapy.

Dr. Rong Peijing is a professor and an academic leader of acupuncture in China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS). Her research interests are involved in mechanisms underlying acupuncture and the therapeutic effects of acupuncture. She has made series studies of transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation on depression, epilepsy, diabetes, insomnia, and the invention of acupuncture instruments. The research team investigated that the mechanism of auricular acupuncture is the correlation between auricular and the vagus nerve. Currently she is the Associate Director of the Committee of Auricular Acupuncture and the secretary general of the Academic Committee of China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (CAAM). She’s got the financial supports from the International Association on the study of Pain (IASP), the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) and the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO). She was awarded the Distinguished Young Investigator by the Federation of the Asian and Oceania Physiological Societies (FAOPS). She’s served more than 20 international conferences as a chair/pc member and offered about 10 keynotes/talks in high ranking conferences or universities, and has also served as editor/guest editor in about 10 peer reviewed journals in professional science. So far, she has published more than 100 academic papers, including Biological Psychiatry, PLoS One，et al. SCI journals. She has won 6 Scientific Awards of the Provincial and Ministerial-level.

Dr Parijat De is a Consultant Physician in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Lipid Metabolism at City Hospital, Birmingham. He started as a Consultant Physician in January 2003 having trained as a Specialist Registrar in Wales. He has set up a regular nurse-led diabetic renal review clinic and is involved in research and projects involving diabetic nephropathy and renal disease. He has also set up various community based diabetes clinics in Birmingham, which are amongst the first in the country. He is involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate MRCP teaching and is an MRCP examiner and College Tutor. He has been the trust Clinical Governance Lead for the last 3 years and has set up local protocols and guidelines in most aspects of metabolic medicine including emergencies in diabetes as well as endocrinology.

Ananya Dechakhamphu is a lecturer at Faculty of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University, Thailand. She obtained her PhD in Medical Biochemistry at Khon Kaen University. She was a guest scientist at German Cancer Research Center and Karolinska Institute. Her research interest is the discovery and development of new bioactives on anti-obesity from Thai medicinal plants and Thai herbal recipes.

He Was awarded with Diploma Lauda, Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest, for research activity in years 2001, 2002; Diploma Georgescu Roegen, Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest, for research activity in 1999; He was Included in The Encyclopedia of Romanian Personalities, 2009, published by WHO is WHO World Society Corp., Switzerland. He was the member of SIGEF (Sociedad International de Gestion y Economica Fuzzy). Vice-dean of Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages, Bucharest University of Economic Studies, responsible of the English Department. He has Published 10 books and 20 articles in specialized journals. He was associated with international and national research contracts. He was the member of 14 research team.

Aurea Chun-En Kuo is a medical Doctor at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital with experience in Acupuncture and a passion for CAM studies. She has been a Member of Chinese Medical Association of Acupuncture (CMAA) and she obtained the documentation of subspecialty in Chinese Dermatology, Acupuncture, and Coventional Western Medicine. Her research topics focus on CAM in treating chronic tinnitus, modern medical devices for meridian analysis such as Ryodoraku, and the epidemiologic characteristics of CAM nursing in Taiwan. Her recent research interest is the basic research of herbs to be applied in the treatment of cancer and sepsis and CAM syndrome differentiation and treatment.
